This lets us use all our abilities more often, compared to a Mana refund that would only let us cast Haunt and Locusts more often. The Mana costs are dealt with via 2 different Passives: Grave Injustice gives us Life, Mana and refunds 1 second of our cooldowns whenever we kill enemies. Quetzalcoatl and Creeping Death only work with Locust Swarm and Haunt, so any other DoT effects we may have access to will be insignificant compared to these two. It also spreads, so you don't need to spam it constantly to infect lots of enemies. Locust Swarm is only a minor part of the damage, but the preferred rune Cloud of Insects also allows it to act as a source of damage reduction. It also has a huge base damage, so the bulk of Jade Harvester damage will always come from Haunt. Haunt is used because of the interaction with the 2 piece bonus, allowing you to whittle down single targets by repeatedly casting Haunt on them. Other DoT effects might work, but Haunt and Swarm are the two best for a few reasons. These are subtly different things, but Jade Harvester only works with DoTs that are applied to enemies. The actual DoT damage is miniscule compared to this detonation damage.Īcid Cloud doesn't apply a DoT to enemies, it deals damage in an area. It relies on putting both these DoTs on enemies, then blowing them up with Soul Harvest, dealing all of their damage in a single hit instead thanks to the 6 piece bonus.
